Our team will be re-united in Patriot Hills in 15 minutes. The ALES group was able to fly today to Mt. Vinson and pick up everyone.
It’s unlikely we will be able to leave Patriot Hills today due to fog. I will update you on our departure once it’s known.
Yipee!
That’s great news!
H, just wondering what does one do in Patriot Hills??
I hope you are feeling better. Can’t wait to hear when you will be back.
Ciao.
Love from Suneet, John and Brody
Heather,
Hey crazy lady–now that you have experienced 64%, imagine how much further you can relate to the patients! I am so glad you made it safely down and for your amazing team staying together. I can’t wait to hear the stories–or read them–it would be a great letter. I hope you get to rest with Connor, Ripley and Bishop soon.
As always, I am bragging to others about knowing you.
John, by the way has “antartic envy” but not Mt. Vinson envy.
back together rhymes with heather
Glad everyone is together again. Now you just need the fog to lift long enough to get moving again. Boy oh boy, there’s a whole new respect for weather. Lots of planes were grounded in London because of fog. Who would guess you’d have the same problem. So glad there is a warm place that you can actually stand up in. Thinking of you all with great fondness and admiration
Peg
ho ho
Dear Ian,
That is great news–we all await the next message –fog that sounds like Heathrow!!! but maybe the other end of the world!! It’s poring rain here and a little depessing for la saison–however nothing would matter if you were en route–doubt P.A is big on design shops but who CARES? MSL
well done Mr. Shippam
Dale;
So glad to hear you are down and happier to hear you are in good shape. As for rescuing “Damsels in distress”, well I wouldn’t expect anything less. Well done my friend, now get your stoies together and come home.
Tom
update from des moines
Hey Heath!!
we seem to be making more headway on the travel side than you. We Actually made it from toronto to des moines in two days via TRUCK. spent the night last night in chicago which was fun and just finished an amazing dinner at dave and carols. All the cousins are here except bud who arrives tomorrow. Keep us updated as we would like to say merry christmas to you no matter where you are. Hope the wheezing has subsided. All of us from IOWA say high and stay positive……
Welcome back team
Pat, Dale, Ian, Barry, Dave, Yannick
Welcome Back! We here in the flatlands salute you. I’m sure you are all enjoying the facilities… cold beer, tables to sit at, hot chow, thick air, a permanent latrine, a little sponge bath in the sauna….. ahhhh luxury. Do they have a souvenir shop at the base? I’ll take a cute little penguin tee shirt if they have one. Weather in Toronto 7 deg, rain, dull.
What was the marathon winners time?
Pat, I will be going to Henry & Debi’s Saturday afternoon and will have my cell phone on at all times.
xoxoxoxo
Merry Christmas to the entire intrepid and steadfast expedition party. Hoping you don’t end up spending Christmas in an airport.
Tom
Hey there, Can you let us all know (up north) if there are groups ahead of you all to fly out & if not is a plane scheduled to come in or are we waiting until the next group flys in to have you all fly out and when would that be? Thanks! I really appreciate the updates, please tell Barry that Rosemary & Catherine miss him something awful & send our love please!
So Thankful!
Congratulations to you all. After reading Drama on the Mountain, I could not even write as I was speechless…and that takes alot. Heather I am so glad that you are alright. I can’t imagine what you were all feeling at that time. Thank you so much for the blog and keeping all of us families and friends updating. It made the nail biting more bearable. I love the comments of my sister Pat, the rock of the mountain and so upbeat…so lucky to have her as a sister and a best friend…I miss her dearly. To all the team your names will always be apart of our family and if ever you come to NL our homes are open. Please keep us posted on your departure for home.
Lots of love…so proud…Eileen

Ed may be helping his wife even tho’ she doesn’t know it. See below.
He forgot his wedding anniversary. His wife was really angry. She told him, “Tomorrow morning, I expect to find a gift in the driveway that goes from 0 to 200 in 5 seconds AND IT BETTER BE THERE!!”
The next morning Ed got up early and left for work. When his wife woke up, she looked out the window and sure enough there was a box gift-wrapped in the middle of the driveway. Confused, the wife put on her robe and ran out to the driveway, brought the box back in the house. She opened it and found a brand new bathroom scale.
Ed has been missing since Friday.
Am still dreaming up something for the most wonderful bunch of people to have a good laugh for Xmas when they are far, far away. Cheers, Nikki
