{"id":2014,"date":"2022-08-27T01:55:22","date_gmt":"2022-08-27T01:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/uhnfdn.ca\/tyl\/blog\/?p=2014"},"modified":"2022-08-27T03:00:45","modified_gmt":"2022-08-27T03:00:45","slug":"day-9-the-plains-that-werent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/uhnfdn.ca\/tyl\/blog\/2022\/08\/27\/day-9-the-plains-that-werent\/","title":{"rendered":"Day 9: The Plains That Weren&#8217;t"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>57.6 km<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ascent \u2013 751m, descent 660m \u2013 Max speed for Dave 64 kph down a crazy hill (Suneet 58.1, FF 58.4 \u2013 so super fast descent but lots of climbing)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What a day \u2013 sunrise clear and gorgeous just after 6 am \u2013 as usual we started with Coffee (I mean really right?) \u2013 3 pots or 3L between the 5 of us. French toast for brekkie (I knew there was a reason we brought Suneet [man can she cook]!). Then we were off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am not sure what it is about the idea of plains that they just don\u2019t get here. Plain \u2013 unadorned \u2013 so that definition doesn\u2019t work cause this is just about the most beautiful countryside I have ever seen. Plains like Abraham\u2019s plains or the Serengeti plains\u2026\u2026.not so much. Yukon Plains is equivalent to Alberta\u2019s foothill mountains \u2013 Up\/Down\/Up\/Down \u2013 well you get it, essentially anything but actually flat. But having said that it was a glorious ride in to Eagle Plains, <strong><u>population 9<\/u><\/strong>. We came across the Hotel, Gas and restaurant like a Bedouin seeing a mirage and realizing it is actually real.
