Well we had quite the evening last night. Customs issues, the drone, luggage and taxi service meant we didn’t get to the hotel until midnight. In my blonde overtired state I left my phone in the cab.<\/p>\n

Catastrophe averted by our wonderful guide who cycled ’10’ km at 1 am to catch up with the cabbie. Today we were \u00a0treated to multiple ‘cat and dog’ downpours. We had brekkie at the hotel and met Ox our guide! Super guy. Already lots of tales.<\/p>\n

We wandered the Thamel district and got lost. A local walked us to Fire And Ice -possibly the best pizza in the world. Perfect crust.<\/p>\n

Then a proper coffee at the Himalayan Java.<\/p>\n

We went to a monk art school to see how various traditional paintings such as the Kalachakra, or ‘wheel of time’ are made. Did our best to support the local economy, of course. It takes ten years to become a master at these paintings. The paint brush uses a single yak hair!!!! One of the most beautiful took one monk, one year to paint.<\/p>\n

Went to the shtupa (Shree: Gha) walked around it (clockwise an odd number of times for good wishes). Hundreds of pigeons, Nadia you’d have loved it.<\/p>\n

More wandering, lost Dave somehow????? (No doubt he made new friends, he can do that anywhere) and watched Farid’s initial miserable attempt at bartering mature into a serious contender.
\nDinner at the Roadhouse. A stroll down the muddy streets listening to all the live bands competing for our interest.<\/p>\n
